Perspective is an incredibly valuable tool. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to advise leaders in boardrooms for over two decades. The impactful perspective I’ve gained through these experiences has influenced my direction for leadership. Quite simply, it’s all about the people. Find the right people and provide an opportunity for them to thrive; that’s the winning formula.
The formal recognition is great. Don’t get me wrong, we really appreciate it, but if you know, you know:
Culture is not something you can fake.
Culture is not something that just happens; it needs to be intentional
Culture is as much about what it is, as what it isn’t.
Whether it’s great culture or bad culture, if you live it, you understand.
I’m a huge fan of a process called Traction. Two fundamentally impactful components of traction are transparency and accountability. When you embrace these principles, success becomes so much easier to achieve. It can be messy for organizations who have not embraced transparency and accountability to find that same success. Almost 5 years ago, I had the opportunity to found Abbey Street. The first question I had to answer for myself came from Simon Sinek, “What’s your Why”? My answer is, “To build a community of professional advisors who authentically care about providing transparent advice to create an impact for the businesses and families who share a common set of core values with us”.
While I am thrilled The Business Journal has recognized Abbey Street as one of the “Best Places to Work” for the 2nd year in a row, it’s infinitely more important to me that our team members authentically believe that as well.
